Daphne Anastassiou Mustakis is a Visual Artist and Psychologist. She was born in Viña del Mar, Chile, in a Greek family with strong ties to the arts.
She attended College in both England and Greece, and in 1980 she received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. Her work is related to transpersonal, positive and integral psychology.
Forty years of professional experience and personal exploration position Anastassiou as a visionary and forerunner within the field of coaching and management consulting, areas through which she has contributed to the development of human potential and an expansion of consciousness. She is an interdisciplinary and transformative artist with a body of work that speaks to both intellect and intuition.
In the year 2000 she published the book We Are Love; the techniques and methods that circulated though the publication itself and the related workshops have invited diverse groups of people to break free of limiting ideas as to be able to trust one’s own creativity and enjoy life to its fullest. Some of her well-known workshops are Creativity, Leadership, Empowerment and Emotional Intelligence. The methods and techniques are based on a holistic perspective, hypnosis and teach notions such as conscious breathing, creativity, the experiential, dynamics in movement, play, humor and love.
Anastassiou has been tied to the arts since her childhood, and in 1991 she began to paint. Since 2006, aiming at understanding human nature has been the drive behind her pictorial work. In 2009 she put on Agapi, her first solo show in Santiago, Chile. From 2014 up-to-date she has been working on large scale sculptures, that can be understood as an expansion of her pictorial body of work.
Anastassiou has exhibited her work in cities such as London, Paris, New York, Madrid, Buenos Aires, Shanghai, Dubai, Italy, El Cairo and Athens. Her work is in private collections in several countries.
The sculptures have been placed in Teatro del Lago Frutillar, Casas de Lo Matta, CV Gallery (outside), Chilean Old Cars Museum, Cultural Centre Gabriela Mistral (GAM), Major University, El Claustro Campus and Conservatory of Music. Together with El Tranque Cultural Centre, we have placed the sculptures in Civic Centre, Portal La Dehesa and DIDECO in Lo Barnechea.
She currently lives in Santiago, Chile and takes part of the directory of the Gabriel and Mary Mustakis Foundation. She also directs the Agapi Foundation. Since 2011 she has been represented by the Colette Dubois Gallery in Paris, France. Anastassiou’s work is currently focused on both painting and sculpture.

Interior lightning artist
At different stages of my life, painting beckoned and invited me to venture into its magical world without boundaries.
My source of inspiration is silence… Love and the Universe. The Universe speaks to me by means of silence and allows me to expand in his love.
Throughout my work an encounter with feminine energy occurs that embraces me, nourishes me and guides me.
Colors flow and emanate freely from within. To paint is a process of meditation, a space in time that is infinitely free where I surrender, play and build my work.
Today I open myself to be able to share the experiences that flow from the depths of my being.
We are channels of the Universe… children, women, men, groups and multitudes that are all interconnected, experiencing this dream, this dance with its diverse dimensions. Color and light invite us to feel them and discover their illuminating power, their healing power. All my work is an invitation to let ourselves flow, to awaken our conscience and move beyond the structure of the mind, to make contact with our feelings and travel in the direction of our divine essence. An invitation to transcend from this illusory adventure into one more conscious of the fulfillment and infinity of the spirit.
The techniques that I have been using are mostly spontaneous, where my principal guide is what I feel, what arises and orients me during the creative process. My curiosity has also opened paths for me through experimenting with different procedures.
I have experimented with painting on various sizes and surfaces, such as papyrus, different kinds of textiles, wood or acrylic panels, seeking fragments of the mystery that hides behind each work. My creations are made using different mediums, such as acrylic paint, pastel, oils, and with them I use different instruments to apply the material, which may be brushes, spatulas, pieces of cloth or sponges, even my hands, which for a long time were my only tools.
I work with acrylics to prepare the surface and then enjoy the attributes of oil paint to venture into the world that reveals itself before my eyes. I develop an artifice with the successive layers that I need to give my limitless scenarios their depth and consistency.
The line of the pencil mark on these surfaces liberates my strokes and permits me to unite the universes of my work in their diversity of dimensions.
